I’m going to keep this post really short because my family is visiting and we are busy having fun! It is so great to be able to enjoy Thailand with them. We will be in Cambodia in a few days and I’m quite excited to explore some temples (for the second time around). CONTINUE READING!
I’ve been lucky enough to get to visit many hotels in and around the city, but none of them have tickled my fancy quite like the W Hotel Bangkok. At first I was skeptical, given that the overall decor isn’t really my style, but they managed to have me totally hooked within 2 hours of walking in the door. It got to the point where I felt like they could see into my head, to do everything to entertain me in the best way possible. I was just like a kid in a candy shop, running around giggling over all the cool things. CONTINUE READING!
If you read APOE often, you may know that I recently had the opportunity to speak at Business In Heels, a ladies business networking event here in Bangkok. It was my first time public speaking and it was terrifying, but all of the women were so supportive and I couldn’t have asked for a better environment to speak in.
This past week I did my very first juice cleanse with Lifestyle Juicery. It was quite the experience! I am obsessed with eating and even more obsessed with coffee and wine, so this endeavor was quite a challenge. However, I ended up feeling pretty great after it was over and am still feeling the effects a few days later. I am also quite proud because I managed to do it without cheating at all! Although I can never seem to stop buying heels, when it comes right down to it, the shoes I wear most are flats. Since moving to the centre of the city, I spend most of my time walking, so comfortable shoes are more important than ever. People frequently ask me why I’m limping; it’s because the soles of my flats are so, well… hard and flat that it makes walking really painful! CONTINUE READING!
During hot season my Bangkok adventures tend to involve air-conditioned Uber rides out of my soi to Central Embassy, where I will spend the day in Rocket Coffee Bar working on something, followed by the evening drinking wine on the patio of Water Library. All in the comforts of aircon. Yes, the Water Library patio has some pretty fancy cooling mechanisms on the patio. Basically, I’m super lazy. CONTINUE READING!

It’s time for Little Black Dress #2! In case you missed #1, you can catch it here.
I don’t know about you, but I’m notorious for getting tired of my clothes. For example, when I’m getting ready for a party I often find myself frantically sorting through my closet throwing one item after another onto my bed in some desperate attempt to find something that I want to wear. Far too often, my room looks like a tornado, my bed has disappeared under a mountain of dresses and I end up sitting on the couch with a (seriously large) glass of wine in my hand. Because really, sometimes getting dressed can be big time overwhelming. CONTINUE READING!
Today is the big day! A Piece of Elise is officially one year old. I am so giddy this morning, I feel like I have a human baby who is having a birthday. I will be whipping out the Mimosas in about 2.7 seconds. CONTINUE READING!
Tomorrow marks the one year anniversary of A Piece of Elise! It’s hard to believe how fast this year has flown by. It feels like just last month that I made my wordpress.com account and showed up at a Business In Heels networking event and tried calling myself a blogger. I didn’t know it at the time, but Business In Heels was probably the best thing I could have done at that point. By the end of the party I had met so many lovely ladies, many who have blogs themselves, who would end up teaching me almost all that I know about the internet. They welcomed me with arms wide open and didn’t laugh (too hard) at the fact that I didn’t even know what a Twitter “handle” meant. CONTINUE READING
Today is my first Monday waking up as my own boss. This past Friday marked my last day at Centara Hotels & Resorts. Time flew by and I did not realize how sad I would be to see it come to an end. Not only did I learn so much about what it means to work within a large company, but I also made all sorts of amazing new friends. Sitting in a room with a group of people, 10 hours a day 5 days a week, brought me closer to my coworkers than I ever imagined. So much Centara friends love is going on! Having said that, it will be nice to distance myself from the endless supply of Jelly Bellys and other snacks that are of large supply in the marketing department. CONTINUE READING
