Elle FW Spring/Summer 2015

This past weekend was fashion week and it was both amazing and exhausting. I skipped the last show on each day because I was simply too tired, but then I would get home and lie in bed unable to sleep because my mind was spinning from all the wonderful fashion. It was all a bit surreal.

I lurked around outside between the shows acting like paparazzi. Although I don’t know the names of half the Thai celebs, I saw many of them later on in the insta feed with about 2.6 million followers. HOLY. I had quite a few funny interactions from nice girls who didn’t understand why I was taking photos of them, given that I probably didn’t know who they were, since I was maybe one of two blonde people present.

Once the sun was set and I couldn’t take photos (I don’t own a flash) I would head home to relax between shows. Given that I now live right in Chidlom, my apartment was literally next door to the venue! How convenient is that?

A big part of what I love about fashion week is getting to be a bit edgy. Dressing girly just doesn’t really fly. Instead, it’s all about wearing something different and a little badass. You will definitely see a lot of unique in the upcoming photos.

In regards to myself, I was different in another way. I have this thing where I like to be completely underdressed when everyone else is overdressed. This mentality is probably to counteract those snobbish fashion week people who are all trying to be the coolest/richest/most important people there…so basically I rocked chucks and 100% silk drape-y outfits for most of the shows. Not to mention it was hot as hell, so comfort was definitely key. I’m not sure how those celebs do it, with their TV makeup on and not sweating at all? Impressive!

I saw all kinds of amazing designers. Although I forgot my camera for some of it, I have photographs of Thai designers such as Vickteerut, ASAVA, ANCHAVIKA, VATANIKA & Fri27Nov, as well as a curated selection of International designers for the “Central Visions of Style” show including: Maje, Sandro and Vivienne Tam to name a few. I hope you like it!

    1. I was right there in the middle of it! I was pretty overwhelming and sometimes I forgot to breathe, but it was tones of fun. There’s nothing like days packed full of wonderful fashion!

  1. hi, elise, here is Jun. nice to meet u, I am a fan of Poyd Treechada, maybe u know her? I saw u were in the show she was as a model “Central Visions of Style”, may I ask, whether u took any photos of her? If so, could u share to me? I promise to keep ur credit. Thank u very much!

    1. Hi Jun! Lovely to meet you too. Thank you for contacting me! I do know her. She is probably the most beautiful ever! I love her too. I’m sorry, but the photos I posted are the only ones I have that turned out. I wish I would help you though! She also attended Asava and was wearing the most beautiful white dress. Anyways, good luck finding photos babe. Hope to keep in touch. Have a great day! xx

  2. Really good post Elise, and great pictures. There were a few I would have liked to comment on directly eg, the hair on the older lady, the Speedo! Was that a designer that you were posing with?

    1. Thank you! I am starting to realize that I really really enjoy taking pictures of other people’s fashion too.

The big hair is definitely a statement. She wears hair like that every day! It’s a joke in Thailand where they say, “the more important you are, the bigger you make your hair”. Having said that, it usually applies to people who aren’t particularly important, but this woman is definitely influential. She is much shorter than me, but her hairstyle makes her tall! 😛 She goes my the name, “Mother Lee”. haha

The guy I was posing with is actually the son of the woman with the big hair. He isn’t a designer, but he is a serious fashion icon and probably my fave Thai celeb. I was so excited to meet him and he was actually such a nice guy!

The speedo was definitely funny! It’s weird seeing such muscly men all oiled up and strutting down the catwalk wearing a speedo haha.

  3. OMG some of the clothes the Thai celebs were wearing were amazing like #19 the slinky dress with all of the graffiti art on it I would LOVE to wear that! I love the grungy chic sexy style! AND OMG that hair! Mother Lee…I see her in every HISO magazine with her hair and wonder how she keeps it so PERFECT in the humidity! ITs like an art! Love that you were front and center you go girl! xo C

    1. Agreed! That dress is amazing. Plus she pared it with the dreamy balenciaga clutch. Drool!!! If you love that style you should definitely check out Anchavika. It’s their signature!

hahah Mother Lee…yup she’s always in HISO haha I think she also owns the tabloid HI Mag. She probably has a one specific stylist and a lot of bottles of hair spray. Serious dedication!

Thanks love. It was such a fun experience for me. I feel very blessed to be able to get to do things like that!
