When I think of New Years, I think of my family getting silly and singing too loudly to Beyonce. Because I live so far away and am only home for the holidays, New Years is typically spent with them. But don’t get me wrong, much to my dad’s confusion (last year’s excessively large/blinged out necklace), what I wear is still very important.
When it comes to the holidays, I love the warmth of velvet and the sparkle of sequins. I know this is oh-so-typical, but there’s something about the combination of the two that is perfect for the season. Therefore, when I spotted the Fantasia Kimono on the Gentle Fawn website, I knew I needed to have it. Not only is it kimono inspired (hello, obsession with all that is Asian), but it’s made of velvet AND it has this swirly sparkly print that I can’t quite figure out a name for. Magic. It’s mine.
When styling the kimono, I went for a sort of Olsen Twin hobo-esque drapery, in the form of a maxi skirt. Although there isn’t a silhouette present, I find that the bandeau top still keeps me from looking like a box. But then again, if MK & A do it, why can’t I?
Hope you’re all having a wonderful holidays! I send an awkward hug to each and every one of you. xo
