The Beginning

There’s something truly magical about growing up. Cue my mom rolling her eyes given that I’m only 22. But it’s true, the older you get the closer you become to being comfortable with yourself.

I’ve been a lot of different people in my short life: athlete, intellect, bar star, drag queen (wannabe), mean girl, businesswoman (wannabe) — you name it, I’ve been it. However, the more times I change the closer I get to being me.

Now before you write me off as some insane head shaving Britney, just hear me out. Think of it as that perfect cocktail dress; you wear it a few times then you hang it in the back of your closet never to be seen again. After all, you can only have so many Facebook photos in the same dress. That’s how my life has been so far, I’ve been wearing and then discarding these various versions of “me”. But just like that perfect cocktail dress, you continue to love it even after it’s gone.

All the phases I have been through, sane or not, have been compiled into one big closet of all sorts of amazing dresses. This is what I love about growing up; gathering all the various pieces of “me” and getting one step closer to simply being Elise.

With that being said, I would like to welcome you to A Piece Of Elise.
